Soft moss a downy pillow makes, and green leaves spread a tent,
Where faerie fold may rest and sleep until their night is spent.
The bluebird sings a lullaby, the firefly gives a light,
The twinkling stars are candles bright, Sleep, Faeries all, Goodnight.

Mum's the Word

You would think this post contained a lot of mums but actually there are only 3 blooming if you don't count the one I just put in my fall display!  I like to buy the 4" pots on clearance for .25 each and plant them at the end of the season.  They just seem to do better in the garden than larger pots.  I have always loved the bronze colored ones.  I have a white one that is in full bud so it should show me something soon.  Then there's always the sheffield daisies that wait a little longer to strut their stuff about mid month.  I think if it were not for mums I would have to take an antidepressant right now.  I also have some other stuff to show you.  Take a peek:

FRESH TRIMMED HEDGE

YELLOW MUM

PURPLE AND BRONZE MUM

STALWART MARIGOLD

I know anyone can grow a zinnia but I'm lovin' the deep red color on this one!  Must save seed...

Finally cleaned the garden shed so I can walk around!

My recycled vintage yardsale napkins turned into a valance!  Those are ladybug tablecloth weights at the corners..so cute!

I finally got a much needed break from work..they let us out at 11:00 today and I'm off tomorrow.  Plan B is to divide the daylilies that are eating my garden!!

  1. I LOVE LOVE LOVE the deep red zinnia!!! Too bad you can't remember the name! This was my first year to really grow zinnias--They were a great addition. Must look for that color next spring!! Your theory on clearance plants CRACKS me up!! That is totally my philosophy too!! Not that I haven't bought my fair share of regular priced plants. .but the sale priced ones are the best!!

  3. I am so impressed by your garden shed and it inspired me to get in and clean up mine...which is in a terrible mess! Hey! This sounds like a good before and after for a post. No unlike yours...I don't think even with a good cleaning it would look good enough for that.(-: I live and garden in Southern California, zone 9/10. Come by and see me sometime. Oh! I love zinnias too, they are such happy flowers.
